Lark in the Park is one of Nottinghamshire’s biggest family play day events. It is a mammoth fun-filled day which features a whole host of child friendly attractions such as arts and craft workshops, have-a-go sports activities plus shows, walkabout entertainers and stage shows. Admission is free but there is a charge for fairground rides and inflatables.
In 2016 they celebrate the 27th Lark in the Park on Wednesday 3 August 10am – 4pm. The theme is Heroes. Get dressed up as your favourite hero and join in the fun!
Also we are now booked in to Armed Forces Day, a nationwide celebration to honour the work of the British Armed Forces, past and present.
In June each year we show our support for Armed Forces by hosting a free outdoor concert and community funday in Bridgford Park, West Bridgford.
In 2016 the celebration will take place on Saturday 25 June starting at 12pm with local sports clubs providing free taster sessions plus various community displays and charity stalls.
The music programme will begin early afternoon with performances by Bestwood Welfare Black Diamonds Brass Band and various local singers. The highlight of the musical programme will be Nottingham Concert Band with a rousing programme of light classics and British themed favourites from 7pm – 9pm. BBC Radio Nottingham’s Colin Slater will be the compere for the evening.
Around the park there will also be lots of family friendly activities including fairground rides and garden games. A licensed bar and various food outlets will on site though audience members are welcome to bring their own picnics.

We attended Newarks 2 day civil war reenactment which is held anually in the market square,
Fun weekend for everyone,,Newark’s National Civil War Centre has revealed details of a major event to mark the 370th anniversary of the fall of the town during the British Civil Wars.
The re-enactments will be staged a year on from events to mark the opening of the National Civil War Centre – Newark Museum.
Re-enactors from across the UK will descend on Newark, on May 1 and 2, to garrison key locations.
They include the National Civil War Centre on Appletongate; Newark Castle, which was a major Royalist bastion during the epic clash between the Crown and Parliament; and Friary Park, which stands on the site of major civil war fortifications.
Over the winter of 1645-46, during the last of three sieges, Newark was attacked by 16,000 Parliamentarian and Scottish soldiers, desperate to destroy the staunchly pro-monarchy outpost,The old confectionery cart will be supplying candy floss and old school sweets,fudges and USA lollies over the weekend.
We have also started our music events 2016,our first one being EY UP MI DUCK which was held at Amber Valley rugby club Derbyshire.30 Groups played on 2 stages from Thursday evening upto late saturday night.
